With the pressure on and needing a win, with a long away trip on the cards, this was never going to be a pretty win but the lads got the job done. For the first time in a few games Redcar started the game flying and dominated the first 20 minutes with a real physicality. The first try came not long after kick off, when scrum half Tom Allday picked up a loose ball at the back of the ruck and span his way over the line, converted by Damian Buck, 0 – 7. The second was on 17 mins, when after a great defensive set from the Redcar team, Gabe Holmes ended up 80m down the pitch and touching down, converted by Damian Buck, 0 - 14. On 21 mins Blyth kicked a penalty, 3 - 14. But 2 mins later when a quick tap penalty from the forwards found space for No.8 Dom Ayre to go over, 3 - 19. This then woke Blyth up and they answered back with 2 converted tries of their own, on 29 and 40 mins.

Half Time Blyth 17 - 19

Redcar had been the stronger team in the first half and they carried on the momentum as they went in to the second half, and after only 2 mins from some slick handling from the forwards saw Dom Ayre go over for his second and it was converted by Damian, 17 - 26. Gabe Holmes was next to get his second as some great strength in the tackle saw him not held, find his feet again and get over the try line, 17 - 31. Blyth then again hit back with 2 tries of their own, on 70 and 72 min, 29 - 31, before another tap penalty from Dom Ayre had him diving over the line for his hat trick try of the game, duly converted by Damian, 29 - 38. Blyth were to have the final score at the very end of the game with try from a beautiful cross field kick.
