Sunday saw the U16’s make the short trip to Guisborough, looking to build on recent good performances and repeat last season's win.
> It resulted in a resounding victory for the team, running in a total of 10 tries split across the two halves which demonstrates the consistency that was applied for the whole 80 minutes.
> Redcar were physically the more dominant team both individually and collectively from the get go and that physical dominance paid dividends.
> The game got off to the perfect start with an early try from Josh Maher and the team proceeded to perform well and aggressively in their rucking and also (which hasn’t always been the case) in their defensive line speed which put Guisborough under pressure and resulted in further success with tries from Ratu Bonaviedogo, Tom Allday, Reece Grey and Oscar Lloyd. One pleasing element of the 1st half was the approach Redcar took to putting the ball through the hands and stretching their opposition
> The second half went much the same way as the first with the same number of tries scored by Stan Francis, Reece Grey (2), Dan Trainor and Joel Richards. As the game progressed the guys played with a freedom that was a pleasure to watch, but ultimately could have resulted in further tries if they continued in the manner of the 1st half (putting ball through hands and using line speed) rather than seeking to individually smash their way to success.

> Once again a brilliant performance from the team with their largest victory to date. As ever learnings can be taken from victories as much as defeats and what this bunch of boys are showing is an increasing desire to work as a team, play aggressive but expansive rugby and learn from the increased coaching and fitness work during the week.
> Long may the improvements continue, with a much sterner test coming in the form of Scarborough at home in the coming weeks….the lads would welcome the support a home crowd would give them.
